CA Osasuna have formally unveiled plans to expand their home ground, Estadio El Sadar, following a season of record attendances that underline the growing demand from supporters in Pamplona.
According to The Stadium Business, the club has submitted a detailed expansion project to the Government of Navarre, marking a significant step in efforts to increase capacity and improve stadium facilities after years of planning.
The proposal, developed by engineering firm Ingeniería Valladares, would increase El Sadar’s capacity by 1,178 seats, pushing total capacity to 24,754 spectators from its current figure.

The submitted plans focus on internal reorganisation of spectator seating and evacuation routes to safely accommodate more fans, with updated simulations showing that the expanded layout would still allow for complete evacuation within regulated safety limits.
The documentation now awaits analysis and approval by the regional authorities, with public safety and compliance at the centre of decision-making.
Osasuna officials have been working on an expansion blueprint for over a year, involving extensive technical consultations with emergency services, prevention units and civil protection agencies, underscoring the seriousness of their intent to bring more supporters into El Sadar.
The club’s average attendance for the current season stands at around 20,377 per home match, the highest since the last renovation, with cumulative season figures surpassing previous years and helping drive momentum behind the expansion push.

Several high-profile La Liga visitors this season, including fixtures against Athletic Club and Real Sociedad, have consistently drawn more than 20,000 spectators, highlighting the club’s capability to fill the stadium and the community’s appetite for top-flight football in Pamplona.
Attendance rates across La Liga stadiums have continued to grow in recent seasons as stadium atmospheres strengthen and supporters return following pandemic-related disruptions.
The ball now lies with the Government of Navarre, which will assess the submitted plans with public safety as a priority, including independent validation of evacuation scenarios.
If approved, Osasuna could move ahead with construction that will help the club capitalise on its current popularity and offer a more comfortable, larger environment for fans.
