Burnley have introduced a series of eye-catching changes at Turf Moor ahead of the summer.

The Lancashire outfit hope the improvements will modernise the experience for supporters while preserving the character of one of English football’s oldest grounds.

Burnley reveal major digital upgrades to Turf Moor

The Premier League side have invested in several new digital features around Turf Moor, including two immersive tunnels and a new giant screen above the players’ entrance.

One of the most striking additions is the “Heroes Tunnel”, which has been installed to enhance the arrival of the Burnley players before matches.

The new setup sees players walk through a specially-created route after getting off the team bus, with junior supporters lining what the club have called the “Claret Carpet”.

Burnley have also changed where the team enters the pitch from – instead of emerging from the North-West corner, players will now come out from a new tunnel in the South-West corner of the ground.

That tunnel has been fitted with LED panels throughout to create an immersive digital experience before players step onto the pitch.

Above it, a new corner screen has also been added between the stands to further build the atmosphere before kick-off.

Away supporters will notice changes too, with two new LED gantries installed outside the stadium to help direct visiting fans to and from the ground more efficiently.

The upgrades are part of Burnley’s wider push to modernise Turf Moor while keeping the 143-year-old stadium relevant and engaging for younger supporters.

FGG says: Burnley are proving old stadiums do not have to stand still

There is always a balance to strike when modernising a historic ground like Turf Moor.

Supporters do not want to lose the identity and character that make it special, but there is also a need to improve the overall experience.

Burnley appear to have found a sensible middle ground.

Rather than ripping up the stadium or chasing flashy changes for the sake of it, these upgrades feel targeted and thoughtful.

The new tunnel and screen should add something extra before kick-off, especially for younger fans, while the wider improvements show that even a stadium more than 140 years old can still move with the times.
