Joan Laporta claims Camp Nou key to new era at Barcelona
Laporta has described the new Camp Nou as the cornerstone of Barcelona's future after officially beginning his 2026-2031 term as club president.
In his opening address, Laporta reflected on the club's progress over the previous five years before insisting Barcelona was entering an “exciting” new era built on sporting, institutional and financial stability.
The Barcelona president said completing the redeveloped Camp Nou would be one of the defining priorities of his new term, describing the stadium as “the home of all Barca supporters and the collective dream of the Barca family”.
Laporta also labelled the project “the defining project of this century” for the club, believing it will become one of Barcelona's biggest long-term revenue generators while strengthening the club's position on and off the field.
He added that an Extraordinary Assembly will be held in the coming days to provide members with a detailed update on the progress of the redevelopment, while reiterating his commitment to protecting Barcelona's member-owned model and continuing to build the club around its traditional values.

FGG says: Camp Nou remains central to Barcelona's long-term ambitions
There is still plenty of work to be completed before the Camp Nou redevelopment reaches its full potential, with the project now at the third-tier stage, but Laporta's latest comments underline just how important the project is to Barcelona's future.
Beyond increasing capacity and modernising one of football's most iconic stadiums, the redevelopment is expected to transform the club's commercial revenues and help ensure Barcelona can compete financially with Europe's biggest clubs for decades to come.
