England supporters heading to Tuesday's World Cup group L clash against Ghana have been warned to prepare for expensive transport costs and lengthy delays after Scotland fans endured chaotic journeys during their matches in Boston.

With thousands of Three Lions supporters descending on Massachusetts, many have already been advised by members of the Tartan Army to allow several extra hours for travel to and from Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

One of the biggest complaints has centred around ‘expensive' transport costs.

Dedicated World Cup train services between Boston and Foxborough are costing supporters around $80 (£60), four times the normal fare, while some fans have reported paying as much as $180 (£136) to park near the stadium.

Others are exploring alternatives, with Uber offering rideshare services back into Boston for around $45 after matches, while private shuttle services are also available at a premium cost.

England supporters arriving in the city have already spoken about starting their matchday journeys early after hearing stories from Scotland fans who experienced significant queues both entering and leaving the venue.

The MBTA has since introduced additional signage and revised pedestrian routes after criticism following Scotland's matches, while officials are urging supporters to purchase tickets in advance and arrive well before kick-off.

FGG says: England fans should listen to the advice

For all the excitement surrounding a World Cup in the United States, Boston has quickly become one of the tournament's biggest transport talking points.

The message from the Tartan Army is pretty simple – leave early, expect delays and budget for a costly day out.

England supporters will no doubt focus on the football, but with Ghana awaiting and thousands expected to make the trip to Foxborough, avoiding travel headaches could be almost as important as what happens on the pitch.

Those who take the advice may end up saving themselves several hours of frustration.
