Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke could reportedly make a rare appearance at Wembley Stadium to watch the Gunners take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final, but one condition must be met.

The American billionaire is known for keeping a low profile when it comes to attending matches in England, but Arsenal’s involvement in a showpiece event at the national stadium could tempt him to travel.

The Gunners are looking to end their trophy drought on Sunday when they take on the Cityzens in the Carabao Cup final. The last time they won a major trophy was in 2020 when Mikel Arteta led the club to an FA Cup final win over Chelsea, though it was during lockdown period with the stadium devoid of fans.

This could be the first major trophy won in front of fans under Arteta’s reign and the club owner is looking to participate in the potential celebrations.

What must happen for Stan Kroenke to attend the Wembley final?

According to reports, Kroenke may attend the Carabao Cup final if his schedule permits. His son, Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke, has already travelled from the United States to attend the showpiece match, highlighting the importance the ownership group places on the occasion.

Stan’s appearances at Arsenal matches are rare, with the 78-year-old billionaire usually managing the club from the United States alongside the Kroenke Sports & Entertainment group. However, major finals are among the few occasions where the owner could be present in person.

Reports also suggest that the club owner would take that opportunity to discuss prospective transfer strategies ahead of the summer window.

Wembley’s importance for Arsenal and English football

Wembley Stadium has long been regarded as the spiritual home of English football and regularly hosts the FA Cup final, League Cup final and international matches.

For Arsenal, appearances at Wembley carry significant historical weight. The club has lifted the FA Cup there multiple times and has enjoyed memorable victories at the stadium in recent decades.

Meanwhile, the Gunners continue to play their home matches at Emirates Stadium, which has been the club’s base since moving from Highbury in 2006. The stadium currently holds just over 60,000 spectators and has been the focus of discussions about possible expansion in recent years.

FGG Says

Stan Kroenke’s rare visits to watch Arsenal underline the global nature of modern football ownership. While day-to-day involvement often happens behind the scenes, major occasions like Wembley finals remain symbolic moments for club owners.

If Arsenal left the Carabao Cup on Sunday, the prospect of Kroenke attending would highlight the significance of the occasion, and a potential turning point in Arsenal’s modern history.
