A trip to Elland Road does not have to begin and end with the football, with Leeds offering plenty of attractions for supporters looking to make more of their visit.

Whether you're arriving early for a match, travelling with family or staying in the city for the weekend, there are plenty of options within easy reach of Leeds United's home.

From historic landmarks and museums to shopping and competitive activities, there is something to suit almost every type of football fan.

FootballGroundGuide takes a look at seven of the best things to do near Elland Road in 2026.

1. Escape the City at Roundhay Park

Located around four miles from Elland Road, Roundhay Park is one of the largest urban parks in Europe and provides a welcome change of pace from the noise of matchday.

The huge green space features woodland, lakes, open fields and scenic walking routes, while cafes provide somewhere to stop for refreshments.

It is particularly well suited to families or supporters visiting Leeds during the warmer months, with plenty of space for a stroll or picnic before heading towards Elland Road.

2. Discover History at the Royal Armouries Museum

Around two miles from Elland Road, the Royal Armouries Museum is one of Leeds' standout attractions and a particularly good choice when the weather isn't on your side.

The free museum houses an extensive collection of arms and armour from across the world, with exhibits covering everything from medieval warfare to more modern conflicts.

Interactive displays, demonstrations and themed galleries make it more than just a traditional museum, while its location near the city centre makes it easy to combine with other attractions.

Location: Armouries Drive, Leeds, LS10 1LT.

3. Explore Leeds Corn Exchange

The distinctive Leeds Corn Exchange is another excellent city-centre stop for supporters looking to do some shopping or grab a bite to eat before a match.

The restored Victorian building is instantly recognisable thanks to its enormous domed roof and impressive architecture, while inside you'll find a collection of independent retailers, cafes and food businesses.

From vintage clothing and handmade products to unusual places to eat and drink, it offers something different from the city's larger shopping centres.

Location: Call Lane, Leeds, LS1 7BR.

4. Step Back in Time at Kirkstall Abbey

For something a little more historic, head around three miles from Elland Road to Kirkstall Abbey.

The remains of the 12th-century Cistercian monastery sit alongside the River Aire, with the ruins of the church, cloisters and other buildings providing a fascinating glimpse into Leeds' medieval past.

Entry to the abbey is free, while the surrounding parkland offers another pleasant place for a walk or picnic. It is an especially good option for supporters with a full day to explore Leeds.

5. Challenge Your Mates at Boom Battle Bar

If you're travelling with friends and fancy something more competitive, Boom Battle Bar Leeds offers plenty of ways to settle a few scores away from the football.

Based at Victoria Gate, the venue combines food and drinks with activities including augmented-reality darts, axe throwing, shuffleboard and beer or prosecco pong.

It is an easy option for groups looking for something to do before a night out in Leeds, with its central location putting you close to the city's bars and restaurants afterwards.

Location: Victoria Gate, Harewood Street, Leeds, LS2 7AR.

6. Catch a Show at City Varieties Music Hall

Leeds has a rich entertainment history, and City Varieties Music Hall is one of the best places to experience it.

Established in 1865, the venue is Leeds' oldest working theatre and holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running music hall. Its programme now includes comedy, music, variety performances and pantomime.

The historic interior and fascinating past make the theatre worth visiting in its own right, while an evening performance could be the perfect way to round off a weekend around an Elland Road fixture.

Location: Swan Street, Leeds, LS1 6LW.

7. Shop and Eat at Trinity Leeds

For supporters wanting to combine football with a spot of retail therapy, Trinity Leeds is one of the city's most convenient options.

The large shopping and leisure complex in the heart of Leeds offers a wide selection of major brands alongside restaurants and cafes, making it easy to spend a few hours here before or after the match.

Its central location also means you're within easy reach of many of Leeds' other attractions, bars and restaurants, so it works particularly well as part of a wider day out in the city.
