The Kassam Stadium has been named the worst football stadium in England by fan reviews, according to our new rankings at FootballGroundGuide.
While English football is home to some of the most iconic venues in the game, the study highlights that not every ground delivers a top-tier matchday experience.
Even so, all stadiums still hold respectable ratings above four stars, showing the generally high standard across the country.
However, the home of Championship outfit Oxford United came bottom of the list with a 4.1 out of 5 rating, placing it below other venues criticised for similar issues.

According to our ranking of England’s lowest-rated stadiums based on Google reviews, the Kassam Stadium stands out for one key reason – its ‘unusual' design.
The ground is widely known for having just three stands, leaving one end completely open. This unfinished appearance is frequently mentioned in fan reviews, with many supporters saying it detracts from the overall atmosphere on matchdays.
Visitors also point to the stadium’s out-of-town location, which can make access more difficult compared to centrally located grounds. Transport links and the surrounding area are often cited as areas where the matchday experience falls short.
Why Oxford United’s stadium receives low fan reviews

Despite its relatively modern build, the Kassam Stadium has struggled to win over supporters in the same way as more traditional English grounds.
Fans regularly mention the lack of atmosphere caused by the open end, as well as a feeling that the stadium is incomplete compared to others across the top five divisions.
Even among Oxford supporters, there is an acknowledgement that the ground does not quite match the character or intensity found at older venues.
While it remains a functional home for the club, the fan feedback suggests that improvements, particularly in terms of atmosphere and overall setting, could help lift its standing in future rankings.
With plans to move to a new £150 million home in the near future now accelerating, the U's may not hold this unwanted crown for long, but for now, it's clear that fans are far from impressed by the Kassam Stadium.
