Myles Lewis-Skelly joined in with Arsenal’s travelling supporters after their Champions League victory over Napoli, helping create a brilliant moment at full-time.

The Hale End academy graduate was asked for a song before responding with a line that prompted the away end to launch into a familiar chant.

With the Gunners' 1-0 victory secured at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Lewis-Skelly was encouraged by the travelling fans to lead them in a song.

The England international responded: “We know what we are!”, before the supporters immediately replied: “Champions of England, we know what we are!”

The moment came after an excellent night for Mikel Arteta’s side, who secured their first Champions League victory of the campaign thanks to Martin Odegaard’s fourth goal in five games.

Arsenal had missed several opportunities to take control of the contest before their captain produced a fine finish from outside the box. The winning move also featured 29 passes, the second-most Arsenal have recorded for a Champions League goal since 2003-04.

Around 1,500 Arsenal supporters made the trip to Italy and were rewarded with an important victory against last season’s Serie A runners-up.

This is exactly the sort of interaction supporters love to see.

Lewis-Skelly is clearly comfortable embracing the Arsenal fans, and joining in with their chant after such an important European victory makes the moment even better.

The fact that he simply responded “We know what we are!” and allowed the away end to take over was brilliant.

It was a proper celebration between the players and supporters, and one that we rarely see at such a high level.

Lewis joined as News and Features Editor in July 2025, having previously held senior roles at Snack Media and GRV Media. A passionate follower of sport, in particular football and golf, as well as a proud Aldershot Town supporter, he brings over six years of experience in the digital sports publishing space.
