Former Everton captain Wayne Rooney has praised the club’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium, describing it as “incredible” after attending the Blues’ win over Fulham last weekend.
Speaking on his BBC podcast, Rooney revealed it was not his first visit to the state-of-the-art ground, having previously watched the under-18s play there and taken a full stadium tour last season.
Rooney, who attended the match with his son and sat alongside Everton legend Peter Reid, said he was impressed with both the performance and the atmosphere on the day.

Rooney praises the new atmosphere
“The atmosphere was brilliant,” the former England striker said. “That’s always the big worry when you move into a new stadium, but the fans made it feel like home already.”
Rooney also praised Everton’s display, singling out the team’s energy and performance levels throughout the game. “It was a great win, a needed win as well,” he said.
The former striker joked that sitting next to Peter Reid added to the occasion, calling it “always fun,” while noting how impressed his son was with the matchday experience.
Everton’s modern home continues to impress
The Hill Dickinson Stadium has quickly become a point of pride for Everton fans, earning plaudits for its design, atmosphere, and connection to the club’s identity.
Rooney’s comments add to a growing list of positive reactions from former players and supporters who believe the stadium has successfully captured the spirit of Goodison Park.
With more memorable nights expected on the waterfront, the new ground looks set to become a modern fortress for the Toffees.
