Chelsea fans were heard showing their support for new manager Xabi Alonso in the Spaniard's first Premier League game in charge at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues maintained their winning start under their new boss with a thrilling 4-3 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion, and fans are clearly loving their start to life under Alonso.

Fans made their support clear with a new Alonso-inspired banner before the game, while a new chant followed throughout the 90 minutes.

Stamford Bridge shows support

Chelsea fans were treated to a brilliant 3-2 victory against Fulham in the Premier League's opening matchday, and Alonso's side delivered plenty of entertainment once again on matchday two at Stamford Bridge.

An already lively atmosphere only became louder when Romeo Lavia gave the Blues the lead inside four minutes, with Chelsea fans subsequently making their growing love for the new Spanish manager apparent.

Sky Sports journalist Nick Wright reported chants of “Oh Xabi Alonso” ringing around the stadium, with Chelsea fans clearly liking the new attack-minded style of play that has been on display so far this season.

While not the most imaginative chant ever created, it is significant to hear Chelsea fans already chanting their new manager's name, especially given their recent history of rather disliking the figures at the helm.

Blues fans will be hoping their side continue to impress under Alonso, especially going forward, with hopes that the Spaniard can be the first man to lead Chelsea to the Premier League title since Antonio Conte in 2016/17.
