The group stages of the 2026 World Cup are now complete, and as ever, football fans from across the world have come together to celebrate and cheer their teams on.
The festival feel of a World Cup only usually lasts until the beginning of the knockout stages, when the tournament suddenly becomes a lot more serious.
While tifos, at least in their traditional sense, have not been common at this World Cup, fans have used other types of banners to express their feelings in the stands.
Below, we run through the best tifos, banners and flags we have seen at the 2026 World Cup so far.
Best fan displays during the World Cup group stage
Brazil – Pentacampeao
Brazil fans are famed for bringing carnival atmospheres to World Cups, and that has been no different in the USA. Before each match, the Brazilians have flooded the streets with music, colour and dancing, while in the stands, they have made a racket.
During their opening match against Morocco, Brazil fans unveiled a banner that read ‘Pentacampeao', which translates to five-time champions, alongside images of five players who have starred in each of their World Cup triumphs.

Croatia – 100m flag
Croatia fans unveiled a 100 metre flag in the streets of Philadelphia ahead of their Group L match against Ghana on 26 June. The Croatians marched through the streets of Philadelphia with the flag and even reportedly interrupted a wedding reception. Will we see a return of the giant flag in the round of the 32 when Croatia take on Portugal?

Argentina – Por siempre gracias Leo
It is well established at this point that Argentinians consider Lionel Messi to be a god amongst men, and understandably so. After leading his country to World Cup glory in Qatar, Messi is seemingly on a mission to secure back-to-back World Cup triumphs.
Ahead of Argentina's final group match against Jordon, a group of fans unveiled a flag that read, ‘Por siempre gracias Leo', which translates to Thank you forever, Leo.
