World Cup 2026 stadium undergoes “major upgrades” to enhance fan and player experience

BC Place has unveiled “major upgrades and renovations” aimed at enhancing both the fan and player experience at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Vancouver stadium is scheduled to host seven matches during the summer tournament, with the first in just under a month when Australia and Turkey clash on June 14.

The 54,500-seat venue has undergone its first major improvement work in 15 years ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with extensive upgrades unveiled in all areas of the stadium.

Enhancements to the stadium include accessibility improvements, inclusivity and technology and new hospitality and hosting spaces, as well as an entirely new permanent merchandise store.

Three new passenger elevators have been introduced, washrooms have been renovated with the addition of gender-neutral facilities, and new high-definition video boards and upgraded Wi-Fi have been installed around the stadium.

Enhancements to the hospitality experience, headlined by the new Corner Club, include the Field Club – a field-level reception and lounge area – the Edgewater Lounge – a premium bar and fan experience – and the Tribune – newly renovated suites and a dedicated lounge and bar for pre-event activities.

Fans have had to pay a considerable amount for tickets to World Cup matches, and while the match itself is obviously the main attraction, major improvements to the fan experience in and around the stadium will also help make the prices more understandable and worthwhile.
