The latest drone footage from the Kop redevelopment at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground has offered supporters a look behind the curtain at the project's progress as work ramps up ahead of a busy summer.

The project has been ongoing since 2023, when the original Kop was demolished at one end of the stadium. Since then, Wrexham fans have had to be patient, with construction work taking longer than initially expected.

Although completion is still a way off, the latest video footage published on YouTube does confirm that a major landmark moment has now happened.

Latest drone footage from Kop redevelopment explained

The YouTube account, Wrexham AFC Fanzone, has been publishing drone footage of the redevelopment for over a year now, offering fans a glimpse into why the project is taking so long.

The latest footage shows large steel parts being delivered, unloaded and positioned around the site ahead of installation. The sight of such materials being delivered to the Racecourse Ground is exciting for Wrexham fans because it means they will now be able to see visible construction progress.

In recent months, the work being undertaken has been related to piping and wiring, which, while important, offers little to the naked. Now that the construction work has ‘gone vertical', fans should be able to see progress on a weekly basis as the stand is built.

From here, things can move quickly. By the time Wrexham next play a competitive match at the Racecourse Ground in August, fans should be able to see the outline of the stand. The plan from within the club is to officially open the new Kop at some point during the 2026/27 season.

Following Wrexham's failure to reach the Championship playoffs on the final day of the season, there will be no pressure on the Dragons to try and speed things up over the summer ahead of what could have been a season in the Premier League.

FGG says: The end is in sight

There have understandably been frustrations among Wrexham supporters about how long this project has taken, but the progress made in the last week should alleviate some of these. For what feels like the first time, the end to this project is finally on the horizon.
