Chelsea fans don't have the greatest reputation in the world when it comes to football chants, with the general perception being that their songbook isn't the most imaginative in the world.
One chant that doesn't fall into this category is ‘Blue is the Colour‘, which is arguably the club's most famous chant.
The song is blasted out of the speakers at Stamford Bridge before every Chelsea match and has been beloved by supporters since the 1970s.
For all the key information on the chant, including the lyrics and story behind it, we have you covered below.
Blue is the Colour chant, lyrics and tune
Blue is the Colour is a song in its own right. It was first recorded by the 1972 Chelsea squad, and the lyrics are as follows:
Blue is the colour, football is the game,
We're all together, and winning is our aim,
So cheer us on through the sun and rain,
Cause Chelsea, Chelsea is our name

As mentioned, Blue is the Colour was first sung by the Chelsea squad back in 1972. It was created and released ahead of the club's League Cup final against Stoke City by Penny Farthing Records.
While the song failed to inspire a Chelsea victory at Wembley, it became a hit with supporters who helped catapult the song to number five in the UK charts.
The song, in many ways, became more important to the club than the match itself, which is why it has lived on at Stamford Bridge ever since.
The chant has had an impact beyond West London, too. MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps re-recorded their own version with the lyrics' White is the Colour' while clubs in Japan, Norway and Finland also have their own version.

FGG says: One of English football's great anthems
Not every club in English football has an ‘anthem' that is synonymous with them, but Chelsea are one of them. Blue is the Colour is special in its own right, just in the same way that ‘You'll Never Walk Alone' is for Liverpool fans, and ‘Blue Moon' is for Man City fans.
