Coming through the ranks at any football club is a special moment for any homegrown player, but at a big club like Liverpool, it does feel extra special due to how high the competition for places is.
Curtis Jones is one of the most recent academy graduates to make it into the Liverpool first team, with the midfielder being handed his debut by Jurgen Klopp back in 2019.
While he isn't seen as the club's best player by any stretch of the imagination, he is a dependable member of the squad and has a special place in the hearts of the Anfield faithful due to his deep-lying connection with the club, which has only become stronger in light of Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure.
Although not as popular as other songs in the Liverpool songbook, there is a Curtis Jones chant that does the rounds in pubs and bars around Liverpool. For all the key information on the chant, we've got you covered below.
Curtis Jones chant, lyrics and tune
The Curtis Jones chant is sung to the tune of ‘There She Goes’ by The La’s. The lyrics to the chant are as follows:
Curtis Jones,
Curtis Jones can play,
Racing through my brain,
And I just can't contain,
How Curtis plays the game
Curtis Jones chant background
The Curtis Jones chant was reportedly created on a train in January 2024, as Liverpool fans travelled back from London following a 2-0 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup.
It came shortly after the midfielder had gone on record to say that he would like to have his own Liverpool chant. In an interview on the ‘We Are Liverpool' podcast, the academy graduate said:
“I'd like a song, I'm not gonna sit here and lie, yeah, I'd like a song. I’ve seen things about ‘The Scouser in our team’ and people saying ‘We need to change that song’. That’s been Trent’s song, and I wouldn’t want that to change just because now I’m in the team and doing well.
“But yeah, I’d like my own song, so I’ll see what they come up with.”

FGG says: A case of forcing a football chant into a song?
The Curtis Jones football chant feels like a classic case of football fans hearing a classic song and shoehorning a player's name into it. There is plenty of potential with this one, but the lyrics need to make more sense if it is ever to properly take off in the Kop.
