Arsenal supporters responded to Manchester City fans' recent title-race taunts with a banner of their own outside the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
Ahead of the Gunners' tense 1-0 victory over Burnley, fans unveiled a sign reading “Party on the streets of London”, as they welcomed the players to the ground.
Arsenal supporters take a swipe at Man City with new banner
The exchange comes with the Premier League title race reaching boiling point.
City fans had mocked Arsenal following their crucial 2-1 victory over Mikel Arteta’s side by unveiling a banner inspired by The Smiths song Panic – “Panic on the streets of London” – suggesting nerves were beginning to take hold in north London.
But Arsenal supporters hit back ahead of what could prove to be a title-winning night at the Emirates. A new banner outside the stadium replaced ‘panic' with ‘party' as optimism swept around the ground before kick-off against Burnley.
Kai Havertz’s second-half winner ensured Arsenal did their part, moving five points clear at the top of the table and leaving Pep Guardiola’s side needing a response against Bournemouth.
The atmosphere around the Emirates was once again electric, with supporters gathering hours before kick-off after Red Action organised another “meet the bus” event following the success of the Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid.
FGG says: It’s all part of the fun when a title race reaches this stage
This is exactly the kind of back‑and‑forth you get when two elite sides push each other to the limit in a Premier League title race.
City’s banner made plenty of noise after their big win at the Etihad, but Arsenal fans have now delivered the perfect response – another victory, another statement, and a growing belief that the title is finally within reach.
The mood around the Emirates has been transformed under Arteta, so moments like this, where supporters and players move in complete sync, show just how strong that connection has become.
And if Arsenal do go on to finish the job, these banners, and the rivalry behind them, will be remembered as part of the story of a truly memorable title charge.
