Arsenal have qualified for the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, and all that is between them and a place in the final on Saturday, 30 May is Atletico Madrid.

As far as Champions League draws go, the knockout stages have been kind to Arsenal, and while Atleti are no pushovers, Arsenal will go into the tie as favourites.

For Arsenal fans, the opportunity to reach their first Champions League final in 20 years is one they will relish. The first leg will be played at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Wednesday, 29 April, giving Arsenal fans a blinding trip to Madrid as temperatures begin to pick up.

If you are heading over to the Spanish capital for the match, here is everything you need to know to ensure the trip is an enjoyable one.

How many Arsenal fans are going to Porto?

Arsenal have been given an allocation of 3,476 tickets for the match against Atletico Madrid, meaning there will be a healthy number of English supporters inside the Metropolitano on the night.

The ticket sales process is strict, with a priority window for Arsenal Platinum, Gold & Travel Club Members with 20+ loyalty points, followed by a secondary window for Platinum, Gold & Travel Club Members with 10+ loyalty points.

Given the magnitude of the fixture, it would not be a surprise to see more than 3,476 Arsenal fans head over to Madrid for matchday.

Where will Arsenal fans sit at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano?

As is customary at European stadiums, the away end at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano is located as far away from the pitch as possible. Arsenal fans will be located in the North Stand of the stadium, in blocks 313-315 and 413-416.

Although high up, the view of the pitch from up here isn't awful. The stand is relatively steep, meaning Arsenal fans will still be able to get a grasp of what's going on, particularly when the action is down at that end.

Where to eat & drink for Arsenal fans in Madrid

The vast majority of Arsenal fans are going to spend the day in the centre of Madrid, which is completely understandable given we are talking about the capital of Spain. Away fans often naturally end up in Plaza Mayor in central Madrid, but there are other places worth checking out, such as:

  • Bad Company 1920 – C de Miguel Moya 8, Puerta de Madera, 1920, 28004 Madrid
  • Beer Station – Cuesta de Sto. Domingo, 22, Centro, 28013 Madrid, Spain
  • Salmon Guru – Calle de Echegaray, 21, Centro, 28014 Madrid, Spain

How to get to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano: Guide for Arsenal fans in Madrid

The biggest downside to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano is its location, 11km northeast of central Madrid. As such, walking to the stadium is not really an option.

The easiest and quickest way to get to the stadium from the centre of Madrid is to use the Madrid metro system. Fans should use line 7 from any of the stations in the city centre to Estadio Metropolitano Station, which is located right next to the stadium.
