Barcelona could soon take another step forward in the redevelopment of their famous stadium.
The club are reportedly hopeful that a long-awaited licence will allow thousands more supporters to return to the stands.
What is the latest on Barcelona reopening Gol Nord stand at Camp Nou?
The Catalan giants are anticipating approval from Barcelona City Council for the 1C licence, which would allow the first and second tiers of the Spotify Camp Nou to reopen in time for the upcoming LaLiga fixture against Sevilla on Sunday 15th March.
If granted, the permit would enable the reopening of the Gol Nord stand and increase the stadium’s capacity from 45,401 to around 62,000 spectators.
The club has been pushing for approval for several weeks and is optimistic that the green light will arrive this week, according to reports in Spain.

Once confirmed, Barcelona will begin allocating roughly 14,000 season-ticket seats for members in the Gol Nord section, with prices reportedly ranging between €160 (£140) and €264 (£230). If demand exceeds availability, then seats will be distributed via a ballot.
FGG says: A long-awaited boost for Camp Nou redevelopment and Barcelona fans
The reopening would also help improve the stadium’s visual appearance on matchdays, reducing the number of empty sections while redevelopment continues. Construction work on the third tier remains ongoing as part of the wider stadium project.
Increasing capacity to 62,000 would mark meaningful progress in Barcelona’s gradual return to a fuller stadium.
For supporters, the reopening of Gol Nord restores an important part of the ground’s atmosphere and identity.
For the club, meanwhile, it offers additional matchday revenue while redevelopment continues, which is a practical step that benefits both the fan experience and the economics of the project.
