Barcelona are hopeful of taking another major step forward in the redevelopment of the Spotify Camp Nou, with plans in place to increase the stadium's capacity later this month.
The LaLiga giants made their long-awaited return to their iconic home back in late November, and the move has sparked a strong run of form as Barca remain unbeaten in all seven matches at the revamped venue.
However, despite the positives, the stadium has only been operating at around 43% capacity, with large sections still closed due to ongoing construction works – but that situation could soon change.
When will Barcelona be able to increase Camp Nou capacity?
Over the last few weeks, club president Joan Laporta has been working to obtain the crucial 1C licence, which would allow Barcelona to expand its capacity by reopening the Gol Nord stand, as per SPORT.
If granted, this would see the capacity rise to around 62,000 supporters, which is a big increase but one that still remains well short of the planned 105,000 final capacity once the redevelopment is complete.

However, Barcelona's next game, a domestic clash against RCD Mallorca this weekend, will come too soon for the expansion to be approved. Instead, it seems likely that their LaLiga fixture against Levante on February 22nd will be the first match with increased attendance.
FGG says: Great news for Barcelona fans and players alike
This development will come as welcome news for Barcelona supporters, many of whom have been waiting patiently to return to the Gol Nord and experience that unique Camp Nou atmosphere once again.
From a footballing perspective, the benefits have been obvious – larger crowds will only continue to bolster the home advantage, and that is something that has already been reflected in recent results.
With redevelopment starting over two-and-a-half years ago, seeing the Camp Nou edge closer to its full potential is a very encouraging sign, and it is another reminder that Barcelona's long-term vision and future is finally taking shape.
They certainly seem confident about the road ahead, having applied to host both the 2029 Champions League and 2030 World Cup final.
