FC Barcelona’s huge Camp Nou rebuild is facing renewed scrutiny as questions grow around the project’s remaining budget.
While construction continues at pace and parts of the stadium are already operational, concerns have emerged regarding the remaining budget required to finish both the Camp Nou renovation and the wider Espai Barca project.
Are Barcelona running out of money to finish Camp Nou redevelopment?
According to reports in Spain, Barcelona are assessing when to seek approval for additional financing as costs continue to mount on the Camp Nou redevelopment.
The project's total financing package stands at around €1.37 billion (£1.18 billion), but it's believed that more than 70 per cent of that funding had already been spent by the end of 2025.
With work continuing on the newly built third tier and significant future phases still to come, including the installation of the stadium roof, club officials are reportedly exploring options to secure additional resources.
Cost overruns are said to be a factor, with unofficial estimates suggesting the final bill could rise hundreds of millions of euros above original projections.
Barcelona have already returned to Camp Nou in a limited capacity, but further delays could affect expected matchday revenues and force greater reliance on the club's ordinary budget.

FGG says: Camp Nou finances now under the spotlight
It is important to stress that these reports do not mean the Camp Nou project is in danger of stopping.
Large-scale stadium redevelopments frequently encounter rising costs, revised timelines and additional financing requirements along the way. Projects of this size rarely finish exactly on their original budget.
That said, the claims will understandably raise eyebrows among Barcelona supporters. The LaLiga champions are still carrying out one of the most ambitious stadium redevelopments in world football while continuing to navigate wider financial pressures.
For now, construction continues, and Barcelona remain committed to completing the project, but if further funding is required, it will be another major hurdle for the club to overcome before the new Camp Nou is finally finished.
