Barcelona’s stadium redevelopment is heading ever closer to completion, but not without some controversy.

Viral images from inside the ground have sparked fresh debate, with supporters highlighting two significant visibility problems affecting the matchday experience at the Camp Nou.

Camp Nou renovation has left sightline issues in two different places

Barcelona fans have now raised concerns about visibility at the newly redeveloped Camp Nou, with two separate issues now coming into focus.

The first problem affects fans seated in the front rows, where poor sightline geometry means some supporters are unable to clearly see the goal line, and in extreme cases, even parts of the posts.

A combination of shallow stand angles, design compromises and pitchside advertising has left up to a dozen rows with somewhat restricted views.

The second issue extends further back in the stands, particularly behind the goals, where static advertising boards, especially the ‘TV U’ format, are blocking the lower portion of the goal from certain angles, meaning fans cannot fully see key moments like shots crossing the line.

Images shared online show that even from higher rows in the lower tier of the Gol Nord, parts of the goal remain obscured, further raising concerns about whether the problem is more widespread than initially thought.

While similar issues existed in the past, previous fixes, such as moving advertising boards further from the pitch, have improved visibility.

However, those adjustments have not yet been replicated in the current design.

FGG says: Barcelona need to find a solution even if it comes at a cost

This is the kind of issue a modern stadium simply shouldn’t have.

For a project of this scale and cost, the expectation is that every seat offers a clear view of the pitch, especially something as fundamental as the goal.

The fact that these problems were known in earlier designs but not fully resolved raises questions about compromises made during the redevelopment process.

Fixing it now won’t be easy, especially as adjusting stand angles is virtually impossible at this stage, meaning the most realistic solution is reducing or repositioning advertising, which would impact commercial revenue.

But ultimately, fan experience has to come first.

After such heavy investment, allowing obstructed views to persist risks undermining what should be one of the best stadiums in world football.
