Manchester City supporters at the Etihad Stadium have really started to embrace tifo culture in recent years, particularly on major European nights and before big-game fixtures.

While the stadium has often been stereotyped as quiet by rival fans, organised supporter groups have increasingly used large banners and displays to add colour and personality before kick-off.

From tributes to historic success to playful digs at rivals, Man City’s fan tifos have become a growing part of the matchday spectacle.

FootballGroundGuide takes a look at some of the most memorable displays seen in the blue half of Manchester.

The 192 bus and other European statements

Ahead of a huge Champions League clash with Real Madrid in 2024, City supporters unveiled one of their most creative tifos yet.

The display featured a Manchester bus, the famous “192” service, with Phil Foden depicted as the driver. The destination board read “Wembley,” the venue hosting that season’s Champions League final.

It was a clever nod to local culture as well as City’s ambition to reach European football’s biggest stage.

Before another European meeting with Real Madrid, fans also produced a cheeky banner aimed at the Spanish giants and forward Vinicius Junior.

The tifo showed Rodri kissing the Ballon d’Or trophy alongside the words “Stop crying your heart out,” referencing the famous song by Oasis.

The message was a playful jab at Madrid’s reaction after Rodri beat Vinicius to the 2024 Ballon d’Or, adding extra edge to an already fierce modern rivalry.

“I’ll Follow You Everywhere” and celebrating the treble era

Some of the Etihad’s most striking displays have come during the club’s recent golden era.

During the 2022/23 season, the chant “I’ll follow you everywhere” became synonymous with City’s march toward a historic treble.

Before a crucial Premier League clash with Arsenal in April, a giant tifo bearing the words of the chant was unfurled across the stands.

The display captured the unity between players and supporters during one of the most successful campaigns in the club’s history.

Later that year, before City’s final home match of 2023, another huge tifo celebrated the team’s remarkable trophy haul.

Known among fans as “The Big Five,” the design depicted the five trophies the club had lifted during the calendar year, which was a visual reminder of the dominance achieved under manager Pep Guardiola.

There was also a banner celebrating the club's fourth Premier League title in a row back in 2024, while icons like Kevin De Bruyne have always been honoured in the form of tifos over the years.

FGG Verdict: Creativity growing at the Etihad

Tifo culture at the Etihad Stadium is still evolving, but recent displays show that Man City supporters are increasingly leaning into the tradition.

Whether celebrating silverware, backing the team during title run-ins, or delivering witty digs at European rivals, the banners and tifos add an extra layer of theatre to big nights in east Manchester.

From the iconic 192 bus to the defiant “I’ll follow you everywhere” chant, the visuals at the Etihad are becoming another symbol of the modern era of Manchester City.
