Camp Nou redevelopment drives Barcelona to record revenue as roof installation hits key stage

Barcelona have enjoyed a record-breaking financial year as the club's return to Camp Nou helps drive operating revenue beyond €1 billion (£910 million).

The stadium redevelopment is also entering another crucial stage, with the vast roof structure now taking shape.

Barcelona hit record revenue despite ongoing Camp Nou works

Barcelona generated €1.06bn in operating revenue during the 2025/26 season, the highest figure in the club's history, with the return to Camp Nou playing a major role.

The figure is up from €994m (£853m) the previous season, while Barca expects revenue to climb towards €1.2bn (£1bn) this campaign as more of the stadium becomes available.

Camp Nou currently has 62,652 seats, with the third tier expected to reopen in stages between January and March. The club is also pushing ahead with the stadium's huge new roof.

Virtually all 46 pillars required for the roof have now been installed, with each weighing 28 tonnes. They will form the compression ring supporting the structure, with only a few gaps remaining in the Tribuna area.

The next stage will see 92 tensioned cables installed towards the centre of the pitch, followed by photovoltaic panels across the roof. The completed structure will cover around 48,000 square metres.

Barcelona estimates the roof installation itself will take around four months, although similar projects have taken considerably longer. Given the delays already encountered during the redevelopment, further slippage cannot be ruled out.

The club is also seeking around €300m (£257m) in additional funding to complete the works, which members will be asked to approve at an online assembly on September 19.

Away from the stadium, Barcelona are exploring further commercial opportunities, including a Barca-inspired development in Dubai and a proposed 1,000-square-metre children's theme park beside Barca Cafe.

The £910m revenue figure shows exactly why Barcelona have been so determined to get back into Camp Nou.

Even while the redevelopment remains unfinished, having supporters back in their spiritual home is already helping generate serious money.

There is still plenty of work to complete, and the delays have been frustrating, but the financial upside of the finished stadium could be enormous.

If Barca can finally get Camp Nou fully operational, the redevelopment should become one of the biggest drivers of the club's future income.
