Chicago Fire's ambitious new stadium project is continuing to take shape, with significant construction milestones already reached at the site in downtown Chicago.

The MLS club remain on course to move into their privately funded £560m home in 2028, with the latest update offering a clearer picture of what supporters can expect.

Chicago Fire's McDonald's Park is beginning to take shape

Construction of McDonald's Park is progressing at The 78 development in Chicago's South Loop, where the new football-specific stadium will eventually accommodate 22,000 supporters.

Concrete has now been poured across nearly the entire lower bowl, while foundations have been installed throughout the site.

Structural steel installation is expected to begin soon, with the club maintaining its target opening date of 2028.

The design will prioritise atmosphere and proximity to the pitch, with lower and upper seating bowls, a dedicated safe-standing supporters' section and a canopy roof intended to amplify crowd noise.

The venue will feature a natural grass playing surface and is being designed to meet FIFA standards for international competition. Capacity will also be increased for concerts.

Chicago flavours will feature prominently in the matchday experience, with hospitality partner Levy developing a food and beverage programme incorporating local offerings.

Other facilities will include a dedicated club store, private event spaces and areas capable of hosting activities throughout the year.

The Fire have also unveiled three premium hospitality experiences, covering around 600 seats.

These include the invitation-only Chairman's Club, Field Seats with access to a private speakeasy and views of the player tunnel, and Loge Seats offering a mini-suite experience with all-inclusive food and selected drinks.

The progress at McDonald's Park is encouraging, with the lower bowl and foundations already providing a clear indication of the scale of the project.

A 22,000-capacity ground with a focus on atmosphere, premium hospitality and year-round events could give Chicago Fire a significant boost both on and off the pitch.

With structural steel installation approaching and 2028 still the target, supporters have plenty to look forward to as their new home continues to rise.
