Club Brugge away section: Guide for Aston Villa fans

Aston Villa have enjoyed their time in the Champions League thus far. After a solid start, they managed to get through, bloodied but into the knockout rounds. Now, they face off against Club Brugge in the first leg of their round of 16 knockout tie.

Club Brugge, one of the sides to beat Villa in the group stage, reached the qualification rounds, which set them up for a replay against Villa. Last time, Brugge won a tight 1-0, so Villa will be hoping they can bounce back over the two legs.

If you're a Villa fan making the trip over to Brugge, here's everything you need to know about the city, Jan Breydel Stadium, and the Club Brugge away section.

What is Brugge like for away fans?

There aren’t many places to visit around the stadium for away fans. As a result, the Brugge city centre, which is just over three kilometres away from the ground, is popular for visiting supporters.

If you have time on the day of the game, it is well worth visiting some of the bars and restaurants in the centre before travelling to the stadium.

Where to drink for Aston Villa fans in Brugge?

Aston Villa's website provided an in-depth “away match information” guide for the upcoming Champions League match. They suggested that visiting supporters go to the centre for bars and restaurants the night before and the day of the game. However, it is worth noting that they said, “No single place has been designated.

Here are some of our best suggestions:

  • Central Pool Bar – Braambergstraat 11, 8000 Brugge, Belgium
  • Hollandse Vijmin – Vismarkt 4, 8000 Brugge, Belgium
  • “EIERMARKT” Area – Suggested by Kilmarnock FC before their Europa League qualifying match against Cercle Brugge in August 2024.

What will the Club Brugge away section be like for Aston Villa fans?

Aston Villa fans will be located at the southeast corner of Jan Breydel Stadium. Visiting supporters enter the ground via Entrance 4 in turnstiles 421-422. The club also noted that “Cat 1 seats” are located in Block 121.

The Jan Breydel Stadium is an old-fashioned ground, but card is the only acceptable form of payment when inside. Alcohol, soft drinks, and hot dogs will be on sale before the match and at half-time.

According to the club website, an extra net is in front of Sector 422, which might slightly obscure the view of the pitch for some away fans.

What is the Aston Villa allocation?

Aston Villa were allocated 1,470 tickets in the Club Brugge away section, and unsurprisingly, all the tickets have sold out. This is slightly smaller than Villa's allocation for their trip to Young Boys in September, with 1,665 tickets available.

How Aston Villa fans can get to Jan Breydel Stadium

The nearest bus stop to Jan Breydel Stadium is Diksmuidse Heirweg, which can be accessed via Busline 3.

Villa also released information on a shuttle bus that will be available from 4:30 p.m. on matchday. The bus will take around 15 minutes to return the supporters to the city centre. You can locate the pickup point on Google Maps here.

Villa fan ticket options

If you can't secure tickets through either club and must go through a third party, there are a few options. In recent years, many fans have begun turning to third-party ticket resale sites to purchase football tickets, and some are already listing tickets for this match.

We recently reviewed LiveFootballTickets and Seatpick, both of which are options for fans looking to purchase tickets from third-party sites. As with all third-party websites, you will need to pay more than the face value of the tickets if you choose this option. However, this eliminates the need to buy memberships to obtain match tickets.

FGG says: A chance for Villa to right a wrong

Aston Villa's Champions League continued later than many fans imagined. The club now have a fantastic chance to make some history and advance to the real late stage. Club Brugge won't be easy, but over two legs, Villa will think they have enough to make it happen.
