Matchday

You can drive to the Maksimir Stadium, but it has been advised by both clubs that fans should travel to the ground via public transport. This is due to the limited availability of parking, along with traffic regulations and potential road closures in the city.

Fans can take number 4, 5, 7, 11 and 12 before stopping at Maksimir Road or take trams number 1, 9 and 17 towards Svetica. Typically, it takes around 15 minutes to get near the stadium on the tram, but it depends on where you get on. From the bus station, Autobusni Kolodvor, you can take tram 7 to Dubrava or 5 to Maksimir.

How are Dinamo Zagreb performing this season?

Dinamo Zagreb are a point behind Celtic in the Champions League table. They have secured wins against Slovan Bratislava and RB Salzburg, but also endured heavy defeats against Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. They lost 9-2 to Vincent Kompany’s side at the Allianz Arena in their first game in this year’s competition but have drastically improved since then.

Domestically, they are seven points behind leaders Hajduk Split in third place after 15 matches. Dinamo Zagreb have only won one out of their last four matches in all competitions.

Where is the Dinamo Zagreb away section?

Celtic fans will be located in the south stand of the Maksimir Stadium. The entrance to the away section is opposite the car park, which is signposted under ‘Arrival’. It is worth noting that there are stairs up to the away section and no lift facilities. Supporters will be checked before entering the ground, with flags and banners set to be inspected.

You can read further information about what to expect when you arrive at the Maksimir Stadium on Celtic’s official website.

What is the Dinamo Zagreb away section like?

In the 1990s, three stands at the Maksimir Stadium were renovated, with extra seats added. The only stand not to be redeveloped was at the south end of the ground where the away fans sit. As a result, it is the most old-fashioned part of the Maksimir Stadium.

Like all four stands, though, the south stand is positioned is extremely far away from the pitch. One of the main criticisms after the renovation works were finished in the late 1990s was that the view of the pitch on all four sides of the stadium was inadequate.

‘The Away Section’ provided the following overview of the stadium: “It retains an open feel even in the upper tiers, and the stands sit like leaning slabs of plain concrete decked these days in the blue colours of Dinamo.  While new stands have been constructed since the 1990’s the southern curve remains.

Pre-match meeting point for Celtic fans

Celtic announced on the club website that a meeting point for Hoops supporters on matchday will be the Bulldog Pub at Frane Patrice.

Celtic allocation for Dinamo Zagreb match
