England fans in Cologne have been recorded on social media singing in support of playmaker Phil Foden ahead of their final Group C match against Slovenia. The Three Lions will be looking to bounce back from their lacklustre display against Denmark in Frankfurt last time out.

England fans ‘enjoying the sun’ in Cologne
@FBAwayDays posted a video on X.com (formerly Twitter) of England fans in Cologne preparing for tonight’s match. The post read: “England fans out in Cologne enjoying the sun and making plenty of noise before the game tonight…Phil Foden’s on fire, and he’ll play the German’s off the park. Class!” A video of England fans singing the chant accompanies the post, with less than three hours to go until kick-off.
Foden chant explained
The chant dedicated to the Manchester City midfielder has become popular with the English contingent so far this tournament. It is sung to the tune of ‘Dancing in the Dark’ by Bruce Springsteen, which was released back in 1984. The lyrics are as follows:
“Can't start a fire,
“Can't start a fire without a spark,
“Phil Foden's on fire,
“He'll be playing the Germans off the park.”
“Phil Foden's on fire” 🎶

Foden has already won the Premier League on six occasions for Pep Guardiola’s side, along with the Champions League and two FA Cups. However, he has struggled in an England shirt, particularly at Euro 2024. He was close to putting England ahead against Denmark on Thursday, hitting the post. If he is given another start against Slovenia, he will be hopeful that he can repay the faith put in him by Gareth Southgate.
