Where bet365's Bet Builder stands out, and where it doesn't

You can build bets in-play, and Sub On Play On keeps marked player bets alive if your player comes off. If a player in a pre-match football builder is made void, bet365 recalculates the bet on the other legs.

The 12-selection cap is lower than Betfair and Paddy Power, which take 25. bet365's rules also don't say whether bet builders can be cashed out, so we scored that as missing.

Player stats and Super Sub on the Paddy Power Bet Builder

The standout mechanic here is the “super sub” rule, which prevents a bet from dying just because a manager makes a tactical change. If you have a player down for a shot on target or a card and they get pulled off, the selection simply moves to the player coming on.

Betfair, its sister site, runs the same idea as Safe Sub, and bet365 and Unibet have their own versions.

Paddy Power had all 10 market types in our test and took 25 selections. Its prices were the lowest of our five on the first builder (3.85/1) and fourth on the second (4.36/1).

What is a Bet Builder?

The Bet Builder feature comes from the need of customers to request wagers from bookmakers. Some people think that the “Request A Bet” feature is the same as the Bet Builder feature, but they would be wrong. Request A Bet meant asking the bookmaker's traders for a price on social media, usually with a hashtag.

That service is fading. William Hill stopped taking requests in September 2026, while Paddy Power and Betfair now take price requests through their help accounts on X.

In 2018, this process was automated, starting with bet365. Instead of waiting for a manual review, the best sports betting sites now allow you to create custom wagers instantly within the app or website.

You can add bets from the same match across a couple of games. If a combination of wagers weren't put together, the Bet Builder system would notify you immediately.

Most bookmakers also offer bet builders in-play, although Unibet's is pre-match only. The number of selections varies too, from 12 at bet365 and 14 at Ladbrokes to 25 at Betfair and Paddy Power.

How to use the Football Bet Builder

Using the Bet Builder is quite easy, though the interface varies between different platforms. Once you have a verified account with any of the best football betting sites, simply pick a match and open the bet builder tab.

Depending on the design interface of the Bet Builder, you would either need to click on “Add Selection” or directly choose from a list of selections. Then the bets would be added to your bet slip, and you would see the summarised odds.

After you complete the selection process, confirm the odds and click “Place Bet.” You can view all the latest details on your wager in the “My Bets” section. Bet Builder is available to all customers who are registered on the platform and have a verified account.
