England have recently wrapped up their final international friendlies before the end of the season and after a defeat to Brazil and a draw with Belgium, fans are no closer to believing their team can go all the way at Euro 2024 this summer.
The defeat to Brazil left many fans calling for Gareth Southgate's departure as England boss but the Belgium draw has calmed many fans down. Although England needed a last-minute equaliser to avoid two consecutive defeats, their performance was much better and did more than enough to get the win.
In the aftermath of the two matches, the BBC asked supporters to vote on their England starting lineup for Euro 2024. After more than 100,000 votes, the results are in and there are few eye-catching names who have made it.
England starting lineup for Euro 2024: What the fans want
As per the votes, England fans want the following 11 players to lineup in the Three Lions' opening Euro 2024 match against Serbia.
Jordan Pickford
Jordan Pickford has been England's first-choice goalkeeper since the 2018 World Cup and he has rarely let Gareth Southgate down. His error against Belgium hasn't put England fans off, either.
Kyle Walker
England are stacked in the right-back department but England fans want to see Kyle Walker start in the position for Euro 2024.
John Stones
John Stones hobbled off against Belgium but he is considered, by some distance, as England's best central defender at present.
Harry Maguire
Harry Maguire has had a rollercoaster of a couple of years at club level but he has retained the faith of Gareth Southgate throughout.
Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw is currently injured and England fans don't believe that Ben Chilwell did enough to make the position his own in Shaw's absence.
Declan Rice
Declan Rice has had a stellar season in his debut campaign at Arsenal. He has the number six position in the England team locked down and England fans appreciate his value.
Kobbie Mainoo
Kobbie Mainoo only made his England debut last week but his immaculate performance against Belgium was enough to convince England fans that he deserves a starting berth at the Euros.
Jude Bellingham
In a team that features Harry Kane, Declan Rice and Phil Foden, it says it all that Jude Bellingham is the poster boy and star man. England's hopes of success will hinge on the Real Madrid midfielder's performances.
Bukayo Saka
Bukayo Saka is another player who missed the recent international friendlies due to injury but England fans still want him to start on the right wing ahead of the likes of Cole Palmer and Jarrod Bowen.
Harry Kane
England's record goalscorer and captain will be Gareth Southgate's first name on the teamsheet so it's no surprise that England fans want him leading the line. Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins will be solid options from the bench.
Phil Foden
There is no place in the fans' staring eleven for £100m man, Jack Grealish, and thanks in large to the form of Phil Foden this season. The 23-year-old has made himself undroppable thanks to his best individual season to date.
