Everton fans enjoyed one of their best nights of the season last night at Goodison Park as they watched their side defeat Liverpool 2-0 in Jurgen Klopp's final Merseyside Derby as Liverpool boss. The win not only moved Everton eight points clear of the relegation zone with four games to play but it also left Liverpool all but out of the Premier League title race.
Given Everton's hatred for Liverpool, many Everton fans were perhaps most pleased about the latter and revelled in their opponent's misery as the match drew to a close. Several chants were aired by the Goodison faithful as the old ground was left rocking in the dying minutes.
One chant that has gone down well with other supporters online was one that referenced Liverpool's title collapse. The Everton fans sung “You lost the league, at Goodison Park” over and over again as the away end watched on in disbelief as their team sunk without a fight at the home of their bitter rivals.

Although Liverpool's title destiny had been snatched from their own hands after a draw against Man Utd and a loss to Crystal Palace, the defeat last night is being seen by many as the final nail in their coffin. In a season that promised so much at the turn of the year, they will now need to dust themselves down to ensure Jurgen Klopp's final few games in charge of the club aren't completely miserable.
The football community applauds Everton fans
It's been a rough few years for Everton fans with regular relegation battles, financial woes and point deductions all weighing heavily on the club. They've seen their team deducted eight points alone this season but with four games to play they now look safe from relegation.
Their efforts last night have been praised by fellow supporters, who found their chant about Liverpool losing the league at Goodison Park particularly amusing. One fan took to social media platform, X, to say: “Everton fans in good voice after beating bitter rivals Liverpool!”
Another fan posted: “As a Forest supporter, Iโm really happy for Everton fans. After the season youโve had, youโre safe now. Hope we can do the same. An Everton fan posted: “Great result, great atmosphere, best chant of the year. Up the Toffees.”
