Everton new stadium secures drainage fix after flooding setback

Everton's new stadium is getting closer to completion by the day, with the club taking ownership of the ground at the end of December.

Despite recent stories of flooding at the stadium, the club has now installed the first part of the solution to make sure that never happens again.

While Everton obviously had plans to secure a drainage solution for the new stadium, today's news does come at a good time. This week, Dura Products completed the installation of a “lightweight linear drainage channel, Durachannel,” at the new Everton stadium, Bramley Moore Dock.

The full drainage system, which is 260 metres long, runs along one side and both ends (goal sides) of the pitch.

Everton new stadium is one step closer to being flood-proof

Andy Leah, general manager of Duraproducts, had this to say about the project when speaking to Projectscot: “We are thrilled that Durachannel was selected to be installed at the new Everton Stadium. It is a fantastic product which is designed to drain surfaces quickly, efficiently and safely so should be a great addition to the new facility at Bramley Moore Dock. This installation not only enhances the safety and performance of the pitch but also underscores Everton’s commitment to sustainability. By integrating such innovative solutions, the club really is setting a benchmark for environmental responsibility in sports infrastructure.”

One of the main reasons the product was chosen was because it was made of a “soft” material. This reduces the risk of injury to players if they fall or slide along it. Described as being “more flexible on impact,” player safety is at the forefront of Everton's planning.

The product is also a “one-piece” solution, meaning it can't be broken down or removed easily in pieces. Which helps minimise any risk of the product being stolen or damaged.

Bramley Moore Dock edges closer

We've been reporting on this story for a while now, and it's getting clear from the waves of stories that the stadium is getting close.

From fan view experiences to secure seats to the pitch being laid, the stadium is closer than ever.

With Goodison Park also facing a battle with the elements, Everton fans probably can't wait to move into their new stadium.
