Hungary fans have built up a mixed reputation over the past couple of years.
Part of the fan base has been rightfully condemned for frequent racist incidents at home and away matches while other sections of the fan base have been lauded for the impressive noise they often generate.
At the Euro 2020, the Puskas Arena in Budapest was one of only a few stadiums where capacity crowds were allowed due to Covid regulations. The noise generated inside the national stadium for Hungary's clash with France is still remembered fondly by football fans today.
Ahead of Euro 2024, German police placed two matches featuring Hungary on the ‘high-risk' list, thanks in large to the nation's most feared ultra group—'The Carpathian Brigade'. The far-right group is believed to be in Germany, but ahead of Hungary's match with Switzerland, there have been no reports of violence featuring Hungary supporters.
Instead, Hungary fans have been busy creating a fantastic atmosphere in Cologne ahead of the match, as documented by several videos shared on social media.

Hungary fans march through Cologne
Hungary fans have spent much of the morning in Cologne marching through the city, making themselves heard. In some videos, Switzerland supporters are seen mingling with the Hungarian fans, indicating that the singing and marching have all been good-natured.
In another social media post, a large group of Hungary fans is seen holding up a banner that reads ‘Magyarorszag', the Hungarian spelling of the word ‘Hungary'.

Hungary is an underdog in the match against Switzerland, so it will need all the help it can get from the fans inside the stadium. I hope the Hungary fans can manage that without resorting to violence and racism.
