Sky Sports pundit labels Sheffield United a “disgrace” as they fall 5-0 down at half-time

Jamie Carragher, who was on commentary for Sky Sports, labelled Sheffield United a “disgrace” as they conceded five first-half goals against Arsenal.

The Blades were torn apart by Arsenal, thanks to goals from Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Declan Rice, as well as an own goal by Jayden Bogle.

Sheffield United in disarray

Carragher said: “It is one of the most one sided games I’ve ever seen. I think if you said that you've come into this game on the back of losing two home games five nil in the Premier League conceding five against Brighton.

“I mean, that's shocking. I mean, it really is and as I said, I've never seen, it's probably one of the worst performances I've ever seen.”

“I can't think of anything worse I've ever seen in a half of football.”

Fans of Chris Wilder’s team were seen leaving the ground after 15 minutes as Martinelli made it 3-0 to the Gunners.

No home comforts for the Blades

Richard Jolly, the senior football correspondent at the Independent, posted a damning statistic on X, highlighting Sheffield United’s shocking home record this season. Jolly said: “So far in 2024, Sheffield United have the fourth most goals at Bramall Lane (4), behind Brighton, Aston Villa, and Arsenal.”
