Swindon Town have a new date for a meeting with Swindon Borough Council regarding the proposed redevelopment of their Nigel Eady County Ground.
According to the Gazette & Herald, the League Two will enter a rescheduled meeting with the council to discuss updated plans in late January.
Meeting set to discuss County Ground redevelopment
As reported by the Gazette & Herald, Swindon Town and Swindon Borough Council were due to have a meeting regarding the progress of stadium redevelopment plans in November 2025, however this was later postponed.
In newly-released minutes, it has now been revealed that the rescheduled meeting has been planned for the week commencing Monday January 26, 2026.
Revised plans followed the failure of previous proposals, focusing on new hospitality features being added to the Don Rogers Stand, as a 75% approval threshold among TrustSTFC members was not reached.
The rearrangement comes with a degree of urgency, as, from March 25, 2026, Swindon Borough Council is able to exercise its buy-back option for £2.3m.
While the council are reportedly not keen to exercise the option at this stage, they will have until March 24, 2028 to make the choice, with council leader Jim Robbins previously saying that any decision would be made “with the best interests of fans at the heart.”
Club chief executive Anthony Hall previously confirmed that the buyback would be a topic of the meeting, with further issues up for discussion, including clarification on why the Don Rogers Stand should kick off the redevelopment and how the ongoing works would be managed.

How long have Swindon Town played at the County Ground?
After their 1879 formation, Swindon Town moved to the Nigel Eady County Ground in 1896, with the stadium their home ever since.
The building of the ground was made possible thanks to a donation from Thomas Arkell of Arkell's Brewery, after whom a stand is still named today.
In 2023, Swindon Town and the Swindon Town Supporters Club completed the purchase of their home ground from Swindon Borough Council for £2.3m, leaving the council with the upcoming buyback option.
FGG says: Positive news for the Robins
Having refined their redevelopment proposals, and with Swindon Borough Council seemingly reluctant to exercise a buyback of the Nigel Eady County Ground at this stage, Swindon Town appear to be nearing a stage in which they can complete works on their home.
A modernisation and improvement of the County Ground, including new hospitality offerings, could bring vital new revenue opportunities for the Wiltshire side, potentially helping with future on and off-pitch growth, while laying the foundations for future ground improvements to the benefit of supporters.
