Following England’s 1-1 draw against Denmark on June 30, Maupay poked fun at the Three Lions by posting a video on X of a man laughing with the message, “It’s coming home”. The post was seen by 13 million people and was liked over 200,000 times.

Premier League striker has second thoughts
At half-time of England’s match against Slovakia, Maupay replied to his original tweet by saying, “Been an England fan for 45 minutes and I’m already done. How do you lot cope.”

Gareth Southgate’s team found themselves 1-0 down at the break, thanks to a strike from Ivan Schranz in the 25th minute. Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham came to the rescue in the fifth minute of additional time to send the game to extra-time. Harry Kane scored the winner for England in the 91st minute, and they were able to defend resolutely to secure their place in the quarter-final. They will now face Switzerland in Dusseldorf on Saturday.
