Manchester City's huge Etihad Stadium expansion continues to make steady progress as preparations intensify ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

A new update has provided supporters with another detailed look at the project, with noticeable advances to the roof structure and surrounding developments.

Etihad Stadium expansion showing major progress before new season

New drone footage has revealed the latest progress on City's Etihad Stadium redevelopment, with construction continuing across several key areas of the project.

One of the standout developments is the ongoing work on the new roof, where additional steel beams are being installed as the structure gradually takes shape.

Progress is also visible on the corner walkways, helping define the appearance of the expanded upper level.

Away from the stadium bowl, work continues on the adjoining hotel development, with new cladding and curtains being fitted, while landscaping is advancing around the wider Etihad Campus.

Paths, paving, gravel areas and planting are all beginning to transform the public realm surrounding the stadium.

Elsewhere, Medlock Square is nearing completion, with contractors laying paving slabs and carrying out final groundwork across the area.

Inside the stadium, machinery has returned to the pitch as preparations continue for the new season, while nearby training pitches are also being reseeded ahead of players returning for pre-season.

The footage also captures ongoing demolition work on a nearby building and highlights the addition of a new solar farm as development across the wider Etihad Campus continues.

FGG says: More than just a stadium expansion

While the expanded North Stand remains the headline project, it's clear that City are delivering a much broader transformation of the Etihad Campus.

From the hotel and public spaces to improved landscaping and infrastructure, the redevelopment is designed to create a year-round destination rather than simply adding more seats.

With the new season now fast approaching, the pace of work remains impressive. There is still plenty to complete, but each update shows another step towards one of the most ambitious stadium expansion projects currently underway in the Premier League.
