Work begins on new hotel at Sheffield United stadium

Work has begun on the redevelopment of a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel at Sheffield United’s home stadium, Bramall Lane.

Guests are expected to be welcomed to the hotel from late summer 2024.

What is included in the hotel?

The 155-room hotel includes a penthouse suite, a fitness centre, and events space for up to 300 guests. Sheffield United hope that it will provide local fans and visitors with an opportunity to gather in the hotel’s lounge bar, while also using the events facilities.

Richard Farrar, managing director of hotel management company Leaf Hospitality, said: “We are pleased to embark on this exciting project at Bramall Lane on behalf the club.

“The DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield City conversion will elevate the hospitality experience for visitors and fans alike.”

Sheffield United look to ‘enhance the matchday experience’

The project will create 100 new jobs and provide a boost to the local economy. When completed, the hotel will become the third Hilton branded property in the S2 area.

Stephen Bettis, CEO of Sheffield United FC, added: “We are thrilled to welcome the DoubleTree by Hilton to our prestigious and historic Bramall Lane stadium.

“This new addition will further enhance the matchday experience for our supporters and contribute to the ongoing development of the S2 area. The return of the hotel is welcomed by everyone at the football club.”

When completed, DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield City will join DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield Park and Hampton by Hilton Sheffield as the third Hilton branded property in the area.

Sheffield United said: “The vision for the property is to establish it as the leading upscale hotel in the city under the globally renowned DoubleTree by Hilton hotel brand.
