New footage has revealed the progress made in the development of the Kop Stand at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground.
Under the Hollywood ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham are conducting a £70m redevelopment of the Racecourse Ground, including the building of a new Kop Stand.
The new stand, which has been under construction since 2025, was initially expected to be ready for the 2026-27 season. However, the expected completion date has been pushed back, meaning that fans are unlikely to be in the new stand until the 2027-28 campaign.
While there is still considerable time left in the redevelopment process, new drone footage has shown the latest progress of the construction work. The Wrexham AFC Fanzone channel, which regularly post updates of the redevelopment work, states that the work has taken “another huge step forward”. The latest video shows two large pieces of steel being lifted into position in the structure.
The footage also shows the workers and machinery in action as the new stand continues to take shape, with the upper tiers dominating the skyline around the site.
Once completed, the new stand is expected to hold 7,750 supporters, up 2,000 from the initial plans. The overall capacity is expected to break the 18,000 mark by the end of the redevelopment process.
FGG says: New stand matches Wrexham's ambition
Wrexham are set to compete in the same for a second consecutive season for the first time since the 2022-23 National League season. That is because a run of three successive promotions ended with a seventh-place finish in the Championship, as Phil Parkinson's side narrowly missed out on the playoffs.
While the Premier League has been put on hold for at least one more season, the club has the long-term ambition to become an established team in the top flight, and they ultimately need a stadium to match that lofty objective.
