Who are Newcastle playing in pre-season friendlies?
Newcastle began their preparations for the upcoming season with a five-day camp in Germany at Adidas’ global headquarters in Herzogenaurach. They played one match behind closed doors, which was a 3-1 victory against SpVgg Unterhaching, thanks to goals from Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak.
Next up for Eddie Howe’s side is a trip to the MKM Stadium to face Championship side Hull City on 27 July. The following day will see the team travel to Tokyo, where they will face two Japanese teams on 31 July and 3 August.
The first of these games is against Urawa Red Diamonds, before they face Yokohama F. Marinos a few days later.
After the tour to Japan, Newcastle will return home to play two home games on consecutive days, against Girona FC and Stade Brestois. The weekend of matches starting on 9 August has been labelled “The Sela Weekender” by the club.
