PSV away section: Guide for Arsenal fans in Eindhoven

Are you looking for the news about visiting the PSV away section on a European night? Look no further, we've got you covered here.

Arsenal are set to play PSV on Wednesday, 5 March, as the Dutch side hosts Premier League title chasers. The match offers up Arsenal and their fans a huge chance to push on and finally get the European trophy they desire.

If you are one of the lucky Arsenal fans to have a ticket for the PSV away section on matchday, then this guide will explain everything you need to know.

What is Eindhoven like for away fans?

Eindhoven is a fairly small city in the south of the Netherlands, but what it lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in character. The PSV fans can create a hostile atmosphere for travelling supporters. Still, given that nothing is riding on this particular match, Arsenal supporters shouldn't experience trouble in the city unless they go looking for it.

The Philips Stadion is situated right in the middle of the city centre, so getting to the stadium shouldn't cause too many problems for Arsenal fans. Nor should finding bars to drink in and/or restaurants to eat in with Market Square a popular spot.

Where to drink for Arsenal fans in Eindhoven?

Like most places in the Netherlands, there are plenty of pubs and bars in Eindhoven where you can grab a drink. For Arsenal supporters, here are three of the best options:

Where to watch football in Eindhoven

For Arsenal fans who are travelling to Eindhoven a few days before the match and/or staying for a few days afterwards, then there are plenty of sports bars around the city, where you can enjoy Premier League action the Sunday before.

In addition to the aforementioned O'sheas Irish Pub, fans should also check out Mainstreet (Stationsplein 2, 5611 AB Eindhoven, Netherlands) and The Trafalgar (Dommelstraat 21, 5611 CJ Eindhoven, Netherlands). Both pubs are central and are accessible on foot from anywhere in the city.

If you're getting to Eindhoven on Wednesday, 5 March, you may also want to check out the city's other team, FC Eindhoven, which is in league action against FC Emmen.

What will the PSV away section be like for Liverpool fans?

The PSV away section is fairly unique in that away fans are ushered down a tunnel outside the stadium that feeds directly into the away end. This minimises the contact between both sets of supporters and should help make Arsenal fans feel safe around the stadium.

The away end is situated in the upper tier of the North-West corner of the ground. The Phillips Stadion is one of the steepest in Europe, so away supporters will feel like they are almost on top of the pitch from the away end. Despite that, the view of the pitch is good—just be careful when celebrating, as the stairs are unforgiving.

How many Arsenal fans are going to Eindhoven?

Arsenal received an away ticket allocation of 1,645 for this fixture—a fairly standard allocation for away teams visiting the Philips Stadion. Given that the tickets were sold out, the same number of Arsenal fans should be expected in Eindhoven on matchday.

However, in reality, the actual figure is likely far higher than that. The Netherlands has become a popular tourist spot for Britons over the years, and thousands of Arsenal fans will likely travel to the city to soak up the atmosphere ahead of the match, even without a ticket.

How Liverpool fans can get to Phillips Stadion

The Phillips Stadion is easy to reach as it is in the city centre. Most fans who stay in Eindhoven can walk to the stadium. However, if you are coming from outside the city, you will have to take a train, bus, or taxi.

By train, you must get off at Eindhoven railway station and then take a short, ten-minute walk to the stadium. The Phillips Stadion also has a bus stop, with several services travelling through the stop on matchday. You will need to visit www.9292.nl on matchday to find out which buses are running and when.

Phillips Stadion tickets: How to watch a PSV game

If you want to attend a PSV match at the Phillips Stadion, then the best way to go about it is to visit the official PSV website and head to the ticketing section. For the club's biggest game, you will need a membership to be able to purchase tickets. However, for certain fixtures, all you will need is an account on the website, so it is pretty easy to get hold of tickets if you pick the right match.

How to get PSV vs Arsenal tickets

Both PSV and Arsenal have sold all of their tickets for the PSV vs Arsenal match. Only season ticket holders and members were able to purchase tickets in the home sections of the Phillips Stadion, while Arsenal's away allocation was sold exclusively to season ticket holders and members who met strict criteria.

As the match is highly anticipated to sell out in the Netherlands, be wary of scams on third-party websites. We urge you to only purchase tickets from official sources such as club websites and ticket offices.

If you can't secure tickets through either club, and you must go via a third party, there are a few options. In recent years, many fans have begun turning to third-party ticket resale sites to purchase football tickets, and some are already listing tickets for this match.

We recently reviewed LiveFootballTickets and Seatpick, both of which are options for fans looking to purchase tickets from third-party sites. As with all third-party websites, you will need to pay more than the face value of the tickets if you choose this option. However, this eliminates the need to buy memberships to obtain match tickets.

FGG says: A chance to progress for Arsenal

Arsenal are still in search of European glory, and a first-knockout-round tie against PSV seems like a good start. While Arsenal's league form has tapered off, they still have a big chance to win a major trophy. PSV offer Arsenal a great chance to advance to the finals stages, and an away fixture first is a big plus.
