World Cup winner, Raphael Varane, has announced that he will be leaving Man Utd this summer when his contract expires. The club and player couldn't agree on fresh terms for a new deal and Varane will depart Manchester after three seasons at the club.
The 31-year-old has had a mixed journey at Old Trafford with injuries getting in the way every time he started to find his feet in a red shirt. Still, there were some memorable moments including a stellar performance against Newcastle in last season's Carabao Cup final and some impressive outings against Manchester City and Liverpool.
There will be a sense of what might have been for both Varane and Man Utd fans after he arrived to much fanfare at the beginning of the 2021/22 season. However, the Frenchman has retained a strong relationship with the United faithful throughout his tenure at Old Trafford which is why he has recorded an emotional message to say goodbye.
Varane speaks directly to Man Utd fans
In his goodbye video, the former Real Madrid man said:
“To you guys, supporters of Manchester United, it has been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wear that shirt. The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Man United player was insane. The atmosphere was amazing.
“I fell in love with the club, with the fans. You have to play for Manchester United to understand what that represents. For my kids, it's home here. It is going to be a special place for me for life.”

Varane then went on to discuss the Carabao Cup victory last season and the upcoming FA Cup final with Manchester City. He said:
“When the fans go to Wembley it's something they remember for life. To share that moment (winning the Carabao Cup) was absolutely amazing.
“Despite the fact we have had a difficult season, I am very positive for the future. The new owners are coming with a clear plan and a great strategy. I will see you at Old Trafford to say goodbye in the last home game this season and it's going to be a very emotional day for me, for sure.”
