Leeds United are prepared to receive a major increase in matchday revenue if their proposed stadium expansion goes through.
The owners of the newly-promoted side – 49ers Enterprises – want to increase the capacity of Elland Road to 53,000 in the near future.
Daniel Farke's side have made a steady start to their return in the Premier League, with home matches sold out across the board.
Leeds to enjoy spike in matchday revenues?
According to Leeds United News, the Yorkshire-based club can expect major revenue increases if their proposed expansion is given the green light.
Bringing the capacity of Elland Road up to 53,000, it is claimed that Leeds could earn an extra £25m from ticket sales.
It is also likely that the club's American owners maximise the hospitality options at the improved stadium, bringing in extra revenue.
Battling with the council
As is the case with all major stadium expansions, Leeds are awaiting the approval of their local council for the works.
Despite issues surrounding transport links to the ground, it is expected that Leeds City Council will give the American-owned club the green light to eventually begin the project.
Such is the confidence, the proposed expansion of Elland Road was cited by the UK Government at the recent Regional Investment Summit in Birmingham.
FGG says: Bridging the gap
Bringing the capacity of Elland Road to 53,000 would allow Leeds would to compete in the ticket sales league table with some of England's biggest clubs.
Based on projections, the Whites would only fall behind the ‘Big Six' in that department, comparable to the likes of Newcastle United and Everton.
