Scotland fans loud and clear
The Scottish fans inside Hampden Park made their voices heard before kick-off as Steve Clarke’s side continued their preparations for their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign. Northern Ireland's players and manager Michael O’Neill looked on blankly as boos rang around the arena during the anthem.
Scotland’s national anthem, ‘Flower of Scotland’ was then sung proudly by the Tartan Army as they looked to pick up their first win in seven matches. Scotland will play Gibraltar and Finland in friendly matches before they play the Euro 2024 hosts, Germany, on June 14.

Boos in September for England match
On September 12, 2023, Scotland played England in a 150th anniversary heritage match at Hampden Park. Gareth Southgate’s team were not surprised to hear their national anthem met with a chorus of boos from the home fans before the match.
England had the last laugh, though, as they ran out 3-1 winners, thanks to goals from Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, and Harry Kane.
