Club Atlético Progreso endured a miserable day at their home stadium, Parque Abraham Paladino, as they lost 4-1 to league rivals Defensor Sporting. It is not the result of the match that has drawn the most attention, though, as a sheep made its way into the stands prior to kick-off.

‘The real farmers’ league’ – Sheep makes appearance before Uruguayan league clash
Over on X.com (formerly Twitter), @BomboneraTears posted a video of a sheep in Progreso’s ground ahead of their league match in the Uruguayan Primera Division. Along with the video, the popular online account provided the following caption: “The real farmers’ league? It was a baaaaaaad day at the office for Club Atlético Progreso who lost 4-1 at home to Defensor Sporting in Uruguay’s top tier; watched by one man and his sheep. Progreso are 3rd behind the Big Dos: Peñarol and Nacional.”
Bad result leaves Progreso feeling sheepish
In terms of on-the-pitch matters, the defeat leaves Progreso well adrift behind Peñarol at the top of the league. They are only a point behind Nacional, but the gap to the table toppers has already extended to eight, with only three games left in the Torneo Apertura. Next up for the South American side is a trip to Centro Atlético Fénix, who are at the bottom of the standings, having only won one of their 12 matches.
