‘Ballon D’or for Vinicius’ – Real Madrid fans show support for Brazilian forward during parade

Real Madrid fans chanted in support of the Brazilian forward, Vinicius Junior, during the club’s trophy parade for their 36th La Liga table. Vinicius is one of the main contenders for the Ballon D’or alongside fellow teammate Jude Bellingham.

Real Madrid secure 36th league title

Carlo Ancelotti’s side secured the Spanish league title last weekend following Girona’s 4-2 victory against Barcelona. They then proceeded to beat Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League semi-final before yesterday’s 4-0 away win at Girona. Asked about the parade after the win against Girona, Ancelotti said: “Tomorrow you will see me with the cigar and sunglasses at the celebration.”

Real Madrid fans celebrate with players during parade

Madrid paraded the trophy through the city, visiting the town hall before finishing at Plaza de Cibeles to greet the supporters. The fountain at Cibeles is traditionally the place where Madrid fans celebrate trophy wins with the players.

During the parade, the team stood on a balcony above the fans with a microphone. Madrid defender Nacho started the song “Ballon D’Or for Vinicius’, prompting the fans to join in.

Vinicius laughed at the chant with his fellow teammates, but will be hopeful that he can beat the likes of Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé for the coveted individual award. The 21-goal man will be looking to win the Champions League final on Saturday, June 1, as well as enjoy international success for Brazil in this summer’s edition of the Copa América.
