Wrexham first announced their full redevelopment of the Kop at the Racecourse Ground back in 2022, and in January 2023, the pre-existing version of the stand was demolished.
The original hope was that the project would be completed by the end of the 2024/25 season, but as of November 2025, the club are still playing home matches with just three sides of the stadium in operation.
Earlier this week, Wrexham released a video to provide fans with the latest update on the project.

While the video doesn't tell fans an awful lot about the project, it does at least prove that work is ongoing despite it now passing its initial completion target.
The main point of the video was to show that piping work has begun. This is typically one of the first stages of any construction project, which goes to show how severe the red tape issues that the club have faced have been.
A combination of planning permission hurdles, difficulties around the land that surrounds that part of the stadium, and also indecisiveness from the owners has all contributed to the project taking this long – the full Kop renovation timeline certainly makes for interesting reading.
Fans react to Kop renovation video
Wrexham fans have had a ball over the last few years, watching their club rise through the English Football League quicker than any other club in history.
However, that hasn't stopped sections of the Wrexham fanbase from growing frustrated with the slow progress of the Kop renovation. After all, the club are comfortably selling out the Racecourse Ground so this extra space is sorely missed.
One fan posted on social media platform X: “It truly is astonishing how long this is taking”, while another wrote: “Wasn’t this announced like 2 years ago? It's taking forever just to redo 1/4 of the stadium.”
FGG says: 2026 completion feels unlikely
The latest word from the Welsh club is that they still plan for the new Kop to open in the summer of 2026 ahead of the 2026/27 season, regardless of which league they are in. However, considering piping work has only just begun, this feels like a pipe dream, if you pardon the pun.
