It has been a spectacular couple of weeks for Leeds United, with wins over West Ham, Manchester United and Wolves securing them a place at Wembley for the semi-finals of the FA Cup and moving them eight points clear of the relegation zone.
There has rarely been a better time to be a fan of the club in the last 20 years, after years of struggling in League One and the Championship.
It's not just the local community that is revelling in Leeds' recent success, but also their large supporter base in Scandinavia. And this weekend, a group of Leeds fans in Norway went the extra mile to ensure they were at Elland Road for the win over Wolves.
Norwegian Whites charter a plane for Wolves clash
In a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post, it was revealed that 146 fans from the Leeds United Supporters Club of Scandinavia (LUSCOC) had chartered a plane for the 480-mile journey from Kristiansand to Leeds on Saturday.
The supporters arrived at Leeds-Bradford Airport on Friday and then headed over to Elland Road for a guided tour. Following that, they went off for a few drinks at the Scarborough Hotel Pub in the city centre. Then, on the Saturday, they travelled back to the stadium to watch Leeds pick up another big win over Wolves.
Leeds fans are singing "We're going to Wembley, you're going to Spurs" & "Tottenham away ole ole" towards the Wolves fans who are set to be playing in the Championship next season… Incredible 🤣😭 pic.twitter.com/JI7yAeajiZ

Speaking ahead of the trip, one member of the travelling party, Terje Ulven, explained the fascination of Leeds in Scandinavia and the planned trip. He said:
“I live in the south of Norway, Arendal, a small town of 50,000, close to Kristiansand. It’s not a very big area, but there are a lot of Leeds supporters here. We have chartered a private plane with some huge Leeds supporters. Many of us have season tickets and have been there many times. For some, it will be the first time.”
“There was just one TV channel in Norway in the 70s, everybody looked up English football. Every Norwegian person has an English team, which we chose. It can be a scarf we get when we’re young.
“When I was four years old, my mother bought a bag for me. I should have got the same as my older brother, but he was a Liverpool fan, and when I saw red, I said, ‘No, I want a blue bag’. I was four or five, and after that, I was a Leeds supporter.”
FGG says: You can't knock the dedication
There will be some people who sneer at overseas fans for supporting Premier League sides, but when you see the lengths that some go to to watch just one match, it's difficult to feel anything but admiration. All being well, perhaps Leeds will be playing competitive football in Europe in the not-too-distant future.
