England supporters are weighing up whether to travel to Atlanta for the Three Lions' Round of 32 tie as soaring 2026 World Cup costs continue to take their toll.
Many fans are already looking beyond DR Congo, with a potential last-16 showdown at the iconic Estadio Azteca against either Mexico or Ecuador looming if England progress.
World Cup costs could make many England fans skip Atlanta
England's qualification for the knockout stages has left thousands of supporters facing another expensive decision, with many considering skipping Wednesday's Round of 32 clash against DR Congo at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
While Thomas Tuchel's side secured top spot with victory over Panama, uncertainty over the knockout schedule meant many fans had delayed booking flights and accommodation until the route was confirmed.
Now, supporters are being quoted more than £640 for match tickets, on top of expensive last-minute flights and hotel prices.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, fans gave mixed reactions to the prospect of travelling to Atlanta.
One said they were skipping the trip entirely due to soaring ticket, flight and hotel costs, choosing instead to save their budget for a potential last‑16 match in Mexico City, while another admitted they were unsure whether it was worth spending hundreds more after England’s unconvincing display against Panama.
Others also revealed they had originally planned to avoid Atlanta altogether before spotting £1,000 resale tickets on FIFA’s site and deciding they couldn’t resist making the journey.
England fans following the team throughout the tournament have already travelled around 6,600 miles during the group stage, with a run to the final expected to total around 15,000 miles.
FGG says: England fans face another major World Cup financial decision
It's easy to understand why many Three Lions supporters are thinking twice.
Unless Atlanta was already part of the itinerary or fans are fortunate enough to have flexible flights and accommodation, the cost of adding another stop at short notice is enormous.
With a potentially iconic last-16 clash against Mexico or Ecuador at the Estadio Azteca waiting if England progress, plenty will decide their money is better saved for what could be one of the biggest matches of the tournament.
