Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds issued an exciting update regarding the ongoing redevelopment of the Kop Stand at the Racecourse Ground following their 2-0 victory over Swansea City in early March 2026.

The Red Dragons have enjoyed a fairytale-esque rise up the English football pyramid since Hollywood duo Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed their takeover in February 2021.

Wrexham, after narrowly missing out on promotion from the National League in their first season following the takeover, have now won promotion in each of the last three seasons – becoming the first team in the history of England's top five divisions to achieve back-to-back-to-back promotions.

Now in the Championship, the Red Dragons are battling for a place in the Premier League via a fourth straight promotion, with Wrexham placed sixth and in the playoff positions at the time of writing.

Alongside their on-pitch ambitions to reach the Premier League, the club are edging closer to realising their long-term goal of a new-look Kop Stand at the Racecourse Ground.

Directly after Wrexham's victory over Welsh rivals Swansea City, owners Reynolds and McElhenney made it clear that the redevelopment of the Kop Stand is still expected to finish in 2027.

The Racecourse Ground currently has only three stands due to the ongoing construction of the Kop Stand, but once the 7,750-seat project is completed, the capacity of Wrexham's home will reportedly rise to around 18,000 supporters.

Reynolds was asked whether the 2027 target for the stand's completion remains realistic, and after admitting that construction can often take longer than expected, the owner reinforced that this project should be completed on time and on budget.

The completion of the Kop Stand construction would bring an end to a process that spans back to 2022, when the club first announced their full redevelopment plans, initially targeting completion by the end of the 2024/25 season.

However, following several setbacks and amendments, the Kop Stand redevelopment was revised with the target of completion by 2027, which Reynolds and McElhenney have now confirmed remains the objective.

FGG Says: Fans can finally get excited about new stand

The redevelopment of the Kop Stand was first announced in 2022, sparking excitement from fans who would finally get to see a new-look Racecourse Ground back with four stands.

After years of setbacks, that feeling was sucked from supporters, who were understandably left confused and frustrated at how it can take so long to redevelop just a quarter of the stadium.

However, this new confirmation from the owners will reignite that excitement, and with the club's recent on-pitch success and ongoing fight for promotion to the Premier League, the future is looking exceedingly bright for the Red Dragons.
