Wrexham supporters have been handed some encouraging news after the club confirmed a major new milestone in the long-running redevelopment of the famous Kop Stand at the Racecourse Ground.
After months of groundwork and preparation behind the scenes, the project is finally starting to become visible above ground as construction enters an exciting new phase.
First steelwork installed as Kop Stand progress continues at Wrexham
Wrexham have officially begun installing the first pieces of structural steelwork at the Racecourse Ground, marking one of the biggest moments yet in the redevelopment of the new Kop Stand.
The club shared footage across social media showing steelwork being lifted into place at the site following months of demolition, piling, drainage installation, concrete pours and lift shaft construction work.
This latest update represents the point where the project starts to physically rise above ground level after a lengthy preparation phase.
The redevelopment is expected to cost close to £70 million, with Wrexham contributing around £50 million of that towards the project.
Local reports have suggested the stand could be completed during the 2026/27 season, finally ending the long-running sight of a building site behind one goal at the Racecourse Ground.
FGG says: Wrexham fans will love finally seeing visible progress
For many Wrexham supporters, this is probably the moment the redevelopment finally feels real.
There has been plenty of talk, planning and groundwork over the last year, but seeing the first steel installed gives fans tangible proof that the new Kop is genuinely taking shape.
Having stared at an empty construction site for months, supporters will no doubt be delighted to finally see something physically standing behind the goal again.
With the club continuing to grow rapidly on and off the pitch under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the new stand is another major symbol of how quickly Wrexham are evolving, even despite narrowly missing out on the Championship playoffs.
